Tips to Help You Make Sales Instead of Offering Free Advice

Many businesses will find themselves giving out expert advice for free instead of actually making business sales.  If you don’t have them pay for the advice, then chances are they will not really appreciate you, or your business.  Here are a few tips that can help you when it comes to making sales.

First of all, you will want to make sure that your potential customers know what you have to offer.  You will want to show them the results of what you have done for other customers that you have dealt with in the past.  You can give them a lot of great information when it comes to what you are capable of, and what you have done in the past.

Next, you will want to make sure that you have done your homework ahead of time and learned as much as you can about your potential customers.  Find out about their interests, and see if you have any common ground.  Personal connections can also be helpful.  This will help them to trust you more, if you are able to build rapport with them.

Finally, make sure that you know where to draw the line.  People won’t have much respect for you as a business professional if you can’t have respect for yourself.  You will want clients to know about everything that you can offer them, but also let them know that you charge a certain amount for your time.  Then, attempt to close the sale.  You need to have confidence in yourself that you will be able to close the sale, and let that confidence shine out to them as well.

Think about other ways that you can improve your leadership.  You might start by writing a blog, contributing to a magazine, or speaking at a trade show.  This can help to raise awareness for your business.  It can also help to boost your reputation.
