Watch Out for Low Quality Guest Writers

There are a lot of great reasons to have guest writers for your blog.  This will offer a new voice and alternative view points for your readers.  It will also help to improve your online networking and give you some extra time to focus on other aspects of the business.  The bad thing is that sometimes there are guest bloggers that are not really that great at writing.  There are some bloggers out there that will only cause you problems.  Here are a few ways to avoid bad guest bloggers.

Generic Emails

If you receive emails from strangers that ask to post on your blog, then you will want to make sure that the email is specific and not just a generic email.  Generic letters do not always indicate bad bloggers, but it really doesn’t mean they will be great either.  Many web masters have received generic emails and only gotten bad blogging as a result.

The best thing to do is look for emails that will outline the reasons why you should feature their posts on your blog.  This usually means that they will provide you with useful content that will help out your blog.

Low Quality

Another thing that you will want to do is come up with guidelines for guest bloggers.  This will let them know what you expect from them.  There are even some writers out there that will not follow the directions.  Sometimes, you will still get bad content, bad grammar and incorrect spelling.  They will wonder why you don’t want to publish their content.  Make sure that quality control is high on your priority list.

Plagiarized Content

Sometimes you might get a great article that sounds amazing.  You must make sure that the content is actually original and not copied from another website.  You will want to take some extra time out to run the article through a site such as Copyscape to ensure that you are not getting duplicate content.

Irrelevant Content

Sometimes, guest bloggers will write content that is really not relevant to your site.  They will place links that are completely irrelevant to your site as well from time to time.  You will want to protect your reputation and ensure that all of the content is relevant to your site.

Instead of letting strangers fill your blog up with content, make sure that you focus on the quality of the posts.
